Traditional sailing, Home
One of the great assets of the 13th Interceltic and European Atlantic Regions Watersport Festival in the Bay of Morlaix is without question, the gathering of 30 traditional boats.

The last big gathering in the Bay of Morlaix was the “Challenge du Taureau”, from 1994. So 2007 will be the revival year, with a flotilla of prestigious ships, such as The Recouvrance, The Belle Angèle, … and lots of smaller private boats, sailing in the bay from 13th to 16th of July.

Their sailing schedule will allow every one to watch them moving about. They will first call at the port of Roscoff, then parade around the Chateau du Taureau, sailing up the river of Morlaix and into the Port of Morlaix by the end of the afternoon.

Sunday 15th July will be a great day, with boats open to the public for visits.

There is a description of every boat present during the Festival and the program of the week, on the “presentation” page.

Also, on 16th July, the port of Morlaix will host the Celtic Goodwill Race. It is a regatta with sailors from Brittany, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Island of Man, Cornwall,… whose aim is to travel and have fun whilst boosting a mutual understanding of different cultures. 106 boats took part in the last edition involving about 3, 500 people. And to crown the week, we inform you that another gathering of traditional boats will take place in Plougasnou, Térénez. The boats will arrive Saturday 21st July and be floodlit all night. A concert will take place during the evening and it will be possible to eat on the spot. A great race-parade of wooden boats is scheduled on the morning, Sunday 22nd July. Don’t forget your cameras !
